You and Your Partner
A Doula providing birth support will work together with both you and your partner. We do not in any way replace the father/partner. Men in particular often believe there is nothing they can do during the birth of their child, and unfortunately this idea is perpetrated by images we see on TV. This simply isn’t true. Support people can be enthusiastic at being asked to attend a birth but are often worried about what to do.
Your Doula will discuss any worries or concerns your partner/support person may have and share practical information regarding positioning, massage and ways that they can be there for you during the birth process. Our antennal sessions are packed with practical tips and ideas of what your partner/friend can do to support and protect the woman during birth. In many ways, we provide backup for the father/partner and encourage them to be your advocate.

Doulas provide support and encouragement for both you and your partner. We work with your partner so that you can give birth in a calm, supported environment. During the birth we can tag team massage, are available while they take a break, remind you both to eat and drink or nap. We can organise the background details so that he/she can focus on you.
We work with same-sex couples, bi-lingual families, birth support teams and whomever you call family.
